Broad Community Connections Featured on WWNO
Broad Community Connections was featured on WWNO on January 5th. BCC’s Executive Director Jeff Schwartz spoke about our vision for a vibrant Broad Street, and the opportunities and challenges in making that vision a reality. Broad is open for business!
Jeff is interviewed by Ian McNulty, and BCC would like to thank Ian, WWNO, and the Greater New Orleans Foundation—particularly Martha Landrum—for highlighting BCC and the potential on Broad Street.

Whitney Bank Building
BCC is working with the developer of a new Family Dollar store that will be going into the former Whitney Bank building at 2650 Canal Street, at the corner of S Broad to ensure that the landmark mid-century Modernist building will be preserved. We’re happy to announce that the developer has agreed to preserve the entire facade of the building!

The development will adaptively reuse the structure to create groundfloor commercial retail and second-story office space, providing an excellent example that economic development does have to undermine the built environment and cultural heritage of our great neighborhoods—in fact, they go hand-in-hand. We’re happy to have Family Dollar coming to the Broad Street corridor, and we look forward to the further revitalization of Broad Street!
